Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is 40 today and celebrations began with the country's royal family attending a Te Deum service for her at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The birthday girl was the star of the show but the next generation of princes and princesses gave her a run for her royal money as the family arrived. Here are the photos that signal the 40th birthday party of Sweden's future queen is well and truly under way...
Princess Madeleine was first of the senior royals to arrive alongside her husband Chris O'Neill. Princess Leonore and Prince Nicolas were on the pre-released guest list and looked more than ready for the celebrations.
But we did get a surprise when Prince Alexander, now one, appeared in his dad's arms as Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia arrived for the ceremony.
It's a big day for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, too, as they mark four decades since welcoming their first child. They looked ever so slightly emotional as they walked into the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace.
Crown Princess Victoria was, of course, the last to arrive. With Prince Daniel and her side juggling Prince Oscar and Princess Estelle holding tight to mum and dad, the birthday girl looked about as happy as can be.
The Te Deum service is the first of many events planned for today, Victoria's actual 40th birthday, with a carriage ride through Stockholm later one of the high points. The celebrations continue tomorrow at Solliden as Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden marks off another milestone.
