The King and Queen of Spain have arrived in the UK for their State Visit. Felipe VI and Letizia touched down on the afternoon of July 11th 2017 - the official visit begins this morning. And it was a case of sunshine and showers for the royal visitors who have finally made it here after several interruptions to their State Visit schedule.
It was all sunshine and smiles in Madrid as Felipe VI got ready for one of the biggest overseas events of his reign. He and Letizia were given an official farewell at Barajas airport, with flags at the ready and Spain's national anthem played.
The couple left in temperatures in the mid thirties celsius with Letizia choosing a white two piece sleeveless suit for the journey.

They arrived to slightly different conditions. Their plane touched down in the UK as rain swept in and the warm summer weather of the past week melted into something cooler. It was umbrellas at the ready as King Felipe and Queen Letizia were greeted by The Viscount Brookeborough, Lord in Waiting, on behalf of the Queen before they were driven into London.
