Spanish State Visit: the Twitter finale

The flags are down (and the Mall looks a lot less sunny for it), the tiaras have been packed away but there was one last act of the Spanish State Visit to play out. As King Felipe and Queen Letizia boarded their plane back to Madrid, the official Twitter accounts of both royal households shared special videos packed with their own highlights of the trip. It was a tweet of a finale to a special State Visit.

The video on the official Royal Family runs to over two minutes and includes plenty of footage of that fabulous State Banquet held at Buckingham Palace on July 12th. It ends with the official farewell and a rather clever little edit that sees the last word rest with the Queen raising a toast to her guests. Nice.

Meanwhile, the Casa Real account shares a minute and a half of highlights with plenty of footage of the royal trip to Oxford that came after the official farewell. There's plenty of pomp and ceremony here too. The videos give us a good idea of what was important on the visit to both royal houses and the image they want to present of them. The highlights from Spain are more relaxed and informal with a major focus on King Felipe while the British version shows all the ceremony of the event in full detail. They are great souvenirs of a great visit. Three cheers all round.
