The House of Windsor at 100: the heirs

The House of Windsor is 100 on July 17th 2017. Don't expect a party, this is a low key landmark but a landmark nonetheless. On July 17th 1917, George V changed the name of his house and his family by royal proclamation. Growing anti German sentiment in World War One meant that the time of the Saxe-Coburg-Gothas was gone and the very English sounding Windsors arrived. It's been a busy century packed with fascinating royal stories. In the run up to the centenary, there will be a special blog post every day looking at the people who have made up this royal house. We've met the consorts and the monarchs and some of them appear again now as we look at their path to the throne as heirs. Welcome to the House of Windsor at 100.
