A royal kiss beneath the spring sun

Beneath the spring sun with its bright beams splitting the grey clouds a prince bowed his head to his monarch. Harry of Wales greeted his grandmother, the Queen, at the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday with a nod of the head and then a royal kiss on the cheek. It was a perfect act of princely chivalry and respect against a perfect spring setting.

Harry was at Chelsea, just a day after arriving back from New Zealand, to see the Sentebale garden which has been planted with flowers from the UK and Lesotho. The space, with its African inspired theme, has been planted for the charity that he founded and to which he dedicates much of his time. Harry had an early start to see the garden - he was up and about before 8 and talking to BBC Breakfast not long afterwards - and said almost straight away that he was keen to show it to his family. And as the sun reached the high point of its afternoon trek, he got his wish.

Harry showed the garden to his grandmother and grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as to his father, the Prince of Wales, and to the Duchess of Cornwall. Surrounded by photographers, Harry bowed to the Queen and kissed her on the cheek before the two shared a joke and a lot of smiles.

The garden, which Harry said he would quite like to transport to his own back yard, ended up winning a silver gilt medal. The Royal Family are regular visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show and their appearance at the event is usually the starting point of the Windsor summer schedule.

So if this year's visit is anything to go by then we're looking at three months very much like the last seven days - a royal calendar filled with Harry winning more fans as he starts a new phase in his own life.
