Royalty's golden week

It might have been Kate who got all the attention for her yellow frock but it was actually Queen Maxima who started things off in what has turned out to be a golden week for Europe's royals. It's not just that all the reigning houses on the continent have enjoyed a successful seven days. They've done it in some very sunny outfits.

The Dutch queen consort arrived for a day in Bonaire with her husband in a bright yellow dress with matching turban style hat.  The couple visited the island for the Dia di Rincon and saw performances of song and dance and popped into 'Stent Street' where they tasted some of the island's traditional dishes before seeing the traditional parades.

Maxima and the queen next door, Mathilde of the Belgians, have often worn similar outfits with a penchant for the same designers so it was no surprise that not long after the Dutch consort had donned bright yellow, her neighbour did the same.

Queen Mathilde chose an egg yolk yellow lace effect dress to present the annual prize which bears her name, given to the group which has helped the most vulnerable in society. She welcomed the winners as well as the judges and jury to the Royal Palace in Brussels for the awards ceremony.

But it was the yellow print dress chosen by the Duchess of Cambridge as she left hospital with newborn Princess Charlotte in her arms that got the most attention.

The bright splash of colour at the top gave way to a white skirt with yellow print. And while it may not have been the brightest of the yellow outfits, it certainly got the most attention having been popped on the back of a very well looking duchess ten hours after she'd given birth for the second time. And the huge interest in this royal baby, and in royalty in general over the past days, has been reflected in the colour chosen by regal ladies - it's been a golden week.
