William and Kate as they headed home from hospital to Kensington Palace where today the Prince of Wales met his granddaughter for the first time
Charles, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall, was seen driving into the London home of the Cambridges around lunchtime and several hours after maternal grandma Carole Middleton was snapped arriving with Auntie Pippa at her side. Later, Michael Middleton joined the group to say hello to the new Princess of Cambridge.
Following the safe arrival of his granddaughter, Charles was said to be 'absolutely delighted'. So the chance to hold this longed for little girl in his arms was no doubt a great moment for the man born to be king. Uncle Harry, meanwhile, remains in Australia where he was snapped at an Aussie rules football match as his niece was making her debut. Today, he said he can't wait to meet the girl who just bumped him one place down the line of succession.

One person this little princess is yet to meet is her great grandmother, the Queen. She is currently at Sandringham and was photographed smiling broadly as she left church there this morning. It's thought William and Kate will present their daughter to her in the coming days when they head to Anmer Hall, their Norfolk residence.

And it's only when great grandmother and great granddaughter have met for the first time that we will find out the name of the newest royal in town - the Cambridges want to keep it a secret until the Queen has met their little girl. So for now she remains a princess better known as #RoyalBabyGirl - words that no doubt delight the Prince of Wales every time he hears them.
