The Duchess of Cambridge at Royal Ascot where she made her first appearance yesterday
It was a day of debuts and we're not just talking duchesses here. While Kate made her long awaited Ascot first appearance, so did another royal couple and they got just as many people excited. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark were also guests at the famous race meeting and took part in the famous royal coach procession. Here's a look back at Royal Ascot 2016, Day Two.
Mary and Kate together was a bit of an unexpected bonus - the appearance of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had been announced, the arrival of the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark wasn't so widely known about. But it all ended in a right royal day at Ascot.
The Duchess of Cambridge chose a white lace dress by Dolce and Gabbana and a straw based hat with detailing by Jane Taylor.
The dress was first seen, under a huge red jacket, at the Queen's 90th birthday pageant at Windsor last month but it was much better suited to a day at the races. The look was light, pretty and rather lovely.
went for bright orange and scored a total fashion hit. The dress was Ascot perfection from the stand out colour, which worked just as well in the sunshine and the showers that hit the races yesterday, to the shaping and the flow of the skirt.
The Crown Princess of Denmark added a very on trend hat - have we seen a royal in the past few days who isn't doing the wide brimmed with a flower underneath look? Cream bag and shoes made this is star of a debut outfit from Mary.
Crown Princess Mary arrived in the second carriage where she and Frederik rode alongside the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Sophie always brings her A game to Ascot and today was no different. Brilliant in blue and the hat will take some beating this meeting.
dress was a stunning shade and a statement of style simplicity with a beautifully cut top and immaculately made skirt. If only it had been about three inches shorter, she would have stolen the show completely.

No one could accuse the Princess Royal of simplicity for this day two outfit. Purple floral print, purple hat, purple trim and dark navy gloves. It's very Anne. Let's leave it there.
The Duchess of Cornwall stayed true to her style with a light coat dress over matching frock, this time in dark cream.
There was a huge hat from Camilla, let's face it this duchess doesn't really do any other kind of topper. All told, a winner.
But they all have to bow before the royal who dresses best for Ascot every single time. The Queen chose pink for day two of this year's meeting and it was just fabulous.
There was a patterned dress below that perfect pastel coat while the hat matched everything and then some. There were lots of debuts on day two of Royal Ascot 2016 but it was the Queen who, as always, led the way.
