Crown Princess Mary sparkled in a new tiara last night
Just under a year ago, Mary wore the diamonds to a gala held in Aarhus ahead of the 75th birthday of Queen Margrethe. Then she teamed them with a black velvet evening dress and looked stunning.
For last night's gala, they were worn as a tiara with a fantastic fashion forward take on evening glamour. Crown Princess Mary chose a white dress with a sheer patterned black overlay and daring low back which looked just great. Princess Marie went for a navy two piece outfit with lace sleeves and a more familiar diamond diadem but this gala was all about Mary.

The gala evening, at the Christiansborg Palace, was held to celebrate the world of art and culture. It's the fourth time in Margrethe II's forty four year reign that an event like this has been held - but the first time the Queen of Denmark has been there without her consort. Prince Henrik missed the event after his wife announced in her New Year's Eve speech that he was retiring from public duties.
But it was Mary's new tiara that really got people talking, In recent times, we've got used to her favouring the Ruby Parure tiara with occasional appearances from her wedding diadem so this new look was a surprise. But the diamonds matched the dress, the dress was a knockout and this Crown Princess looked pretty fabulous all round. Princess perfection.
