We had a hint of what was to come as the Dutch King and Queen arrived in Paris late last night. Maxima walked off the plane in a golden brown trouser suit that screamed style and elegance. And that was just a taste of things to come.

For the first full day of the visit, Maxima chose a stunning structured dress with exquisite detailing in a gentle caramel gold matched with a cracker of a hat.
The State Visit began with an official welcome and at the Arc de Triomphe the royal couple laid a wreath.
Then it was off to the Elysee Palace for more welcomes and a lunch as well as the traditional pose for photos on the famous steps of the President of France's official home.
The afternoon included a trip to the Louvre Museum where King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and President Hollande saw two paintings by the famous Dutch artists, Rembrandt, which have been purchased jointly by the Louvre and the Rijksmuseum.
The afternoon included a visit the Halle Pajol youth hostel where the royal visitors heard about the work that goes on there. They presented the organisation with a bench and us with one of the sweetest royal photos so far this year as they shared a smile in the Paris sunshine.
There's the promise of more sparkle tomorrow as the State Visit heads into its second and final day.
And then it was time for dinner. A State Visit isn't a State Visit without a gala event and although this wasn't the occasion for full length gowns and tiaras, Queen Maxima dazzled in a gold cocktail dress. There was a huge and famous guest list for the banquet at the Elysee Palace but all eyes were on Maxima as she finished the day as she started - going for gold.
