King Philippe's address

King Philippe of the Belgians made a TV address just twelve hours after the Brussels attacks which left 34 people dead and hundreds injured. In his speech, broadcast across Belgium at 7pm local time on March 22nd, the Belgian King called for his fellow citizens to stand together and have confidence in one another.

The speech, which was also shared on You Tube, saw King Philippe start by saying 'our country is in mourning'. He went on to express heartfelt condolences to all those affected and he told them that 'Mathilde and I share your pain'. He expressed his complete support for the emergency services and those helping people affected by the attacks. And he ended with that call for confidence which he said is 'our strength'.
