Prince Oscar of Sweden

Sweden's new prince is called Oscar Carl Olof. His names were announced by his proud grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf, at a special meeting of the Cabinet held at the Royal Palace and also attended by Oscar's uncle, Prince Carl Philip.

Prince Oscar of Sweden was born at 8.28pm on March 2nd at the Karolinska Hospital in Solna. He is the second child and first son of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

Prince Oscar is third in line to the throne behind his mother and his big sister, Princess Estelle. He has also been given the title of Duke of Skane by his grandfather.

Mother and son are doing well and left hospital earlier this morning with Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle at their sides. The family are now at home at the Haga Palace.
