The Learning Orchestra was set up in 2006 to encourage schools across the Netherlands to involve children in 5th to 9th grade to play music together. It's proved a huge success with thousands of children getting involved and today quite a few of them turned up to celebrate with Maxima.
The concert involved 1088 children playing a piece of music with the help of the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra. There was singing as well before Maxima, who has been heavily involved in work to increase music learning and awareness at schools, took to the stage to congratulate everyone on the anniversary and all they had achieved.

The Queen of the Netherlands chose a silver suit with matching hat for the occasion. It featured an off centre set of buttons and was matched with grey gloves and matte silver shoes.
It's been a busy week for Maxima - yesterday she attended the Global Alliance for Banking on Values Conference being held in Zeist. The Dutch Queen has been a high profile campaigner for inclusive finance for many years.
On Monday, Maxima attended the Women Inc Healthcare Seminar held in Oegstgeest.
Tomorrow she leaves for France where she and her husband, King Willem-Alexander, are making a two day State Visit. Maxima really is sparkling right now.
