It might well be the last royal reception for Rio returnees but it was still a big celebration for the stars of the greatest show on earth. The King and Queen of the Belgians were joined by Princess Astrid as they welcomed their country's Olympic and Paralympics athletes to the Royal Palace in Brussels to celebrate their successes.

Belgium's stars won six medals at the Olympics and eleven at the Paralympics and they were given plenty of congratulations for their achievements at this royal reception.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde spent several days at the Rio Olympics earlier this year with the royal couple cheering their country's athletes on as the opening ceremony got under way. And now, as the Games pass into history, they were on hand to mark this special sporting moment as well. A right royal reception for the stars of Rio 2016.
