While her husband starred in one of the biggest royal photocalls for the week as he welcomed the Duchess of Cambridge to The Hague for her first overseas solo visit, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was taking her work on inclusive finance back to her home country. For the first time, she visited Argentina in her capacity as a UN Special Envoy on Inclusive Finance. Her two day visit will include talks and tours as Maxima continues work on an issue very close to her heart.
The Queen of the Netherlands began her visit in her home country's capital city, Buenos Aires, where she heard about government plans to develop a national strategy for inclusive finance. She held talks with local UN representatives, with the Argentinian Foreign Minister and with the governor of the country's Central Bank.
Queen Maxima also headed to the Universidad Catolica Argentina where she gave a speech to students about developing strong ties to formal financial institutions to help them develop their own economic futures. Her visit continues on October 12th when she will hold a meeting with the President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri.
