Pints, pubs and Poundbury

Cheers, my dear...the Duchess of Cornwall pulls a pint for the prince who named a pub after her

When you're the heir to the throne, it's the kind of thing you can do. While other husbands are thinking hard about a special treat for the missus, the Prince of Wales upped the ante on best presents with the wow factor and named a pub after his wife. And to say thank you, Camilla pulled him a pint in the brand new Duchess of Cornwall pub in Poundbury.

To be fair, Charles has been pretty instrumental in bringing the Dorset village to life so getting to name the local after his wife was only to be expected. The royal couple ended their day in Poundbury on October 27th by popping into the pub, sipping a pint and drinking the health of the newest part of this ongoing development.

Like the rest of us, they both needed a drink as we all got over the sight of the Queen in a supermarket. The Queen popped into the local shop, which will help support businesses and farmers in the area by stocking their produce, as she toured the town her son and heir built. And we all got to do a double take at the sight of the Queen in a supermarket aisle.

The Queen was accompanied on the trip to the shops by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall but, let's face it, no one was interested in them. The Queen looking at sugar and then heading to the tills to inspect a self service machine is about as good as it gets on a royal day out. Just let's enjoy.

Charles had had the support of his mother, father and wife at the official naming of the Queen Mother Square in Poundbury. The Queen had unveiled a statue of her own mother before the royals headed off to see the facilities and meet the people which form a part of this new area of Poundbury.

There were hampers, treats and flowers for the royal visitors as they made their way around the shop and pub. And at the end of the day, there was a well earned drink and a relieved smile from the Prince of Wales as he watched his wife enjoy the pub he named in her honour. Well, what do you get the duchess who has everything? Charles has this one sorted.
