Letizia's cape work

Queen Letizia keeps her cape on for at least ten seconds before shivering for the sake of style

Have cape, will drop it. The Queen of Spain went for a cover up on her way to the Princess of Asturias Awards concert this evening and then thought better of it. Letizia is made of strong stuff because as autumn attacked Oviedo, this consort's cape work left her out in the elements in an outfit that would shiver in the summer. And that's before we get to the hair.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were attending a concert at the Prince Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo as their participation in this year's Princess of Asturias Awards got under way.

The annual awards are handed out by the foundation named in honour of the heir to the throne of Spain in a range of areas including literature, social sciences and sport. Ahead of the presentation of the main awards on October 21st, the royal couple attended the traditional concert.

It's the 25th time this concert has been held and featured work by Beethoven. Ahead of the concert, Felipe and Letizia met local politicians as well as doing a bit of a walkabout.

It was clearly warm inside the auditorium as Letizia chose a black dress with spaghetti straps and eighties style hair. The cape reappeared for their exit into the cool night of Oviedo.

The King and Queen of Spain will be joined by Queen Sofia for the main awards celebration on October 21st. Coats are not compulsory.
