Other royal visits are available. While many royal watcher's eyes are turned north to Canada, there's another glamourous regal tour going on in the USA right now.  Frederik and Mary are in Washington where they're beginning a three days visit to the States focused on business. Three days, well over a dozen engagements and lots of photos. Royal Visit USA is under way.

The visit began with a reception at the Danish Ambassador's residence in Washington. It was the first chance for Frederik and Mary to meet the business delegation at the heart of this trip as well as to say hello to representatives from culture and arts and opened a new modern art exhibition featuring contemporary Danish works.

The official welcome took place at the US Chamber of Commerce early on the morning of September 28th where Frederik gave a speech.

It wasn't the first engagement of the day for the Crown Prince of Denmark who had earlier taken a run along the American Mall with Army veterans recovering from physical injuries. Frederik is well known for his love of sport and for his support for wounded veterans and was a high profile visitor to the London Invictus Games in 2014.

The morning saw Mary and Frederik take on different engagements with the heir to the throne attending a seminar on the maritime industry while his consort attended meetings on health and agriculture and food. They came together for a business lunch before heading off  in separate directions again with Mary visiting the Children's National Medical Centre.

During her visit, the Crown Princess of Denmark met patients and their families as well as some of those caring for them. Mary's first speech of the visit came later that afternoon when she attended an event promoting gender equality hosted by the International Centre for Research on Women. Frederik meanwhile was promoting Danish companies working on sustainable water technology.

In the evening, we got the big gala event of the three day visit as Mary and Frederik headed to the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building for a ball. The glittering evening brought together the business delegation, local politicians and representatives from the Danish Embassy. And we also got to see Mary and Fred dancing together. What's not to love?

Royal Visit USA continues in Washington before moving to Boston where it will end on Septemebr 30th 2016.
