Princess Anne, the Princess Royal has cancelled several engagements next week after becoming ill with a serious chest infection. Anne, who has just celebrated her 66th birthday, will take a rare week off work following her diagnosis.

The Princess Royal was tested at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Tuesday after feeling unwell while staying in Scotland. She has been told to rest by doctors and after missing an engagement on Thursday, she has also had to postpone events scheduled for the coming week.

Princess Anne was last seen in public last weekend when she attended the Braemar Games with her parents and her big brother, Prince Charles. In the past month she has travelled to Rio to support the British Olympic team and to Russia to take part in commemorations for the Arctic Convoy. Anne regularly tops the lists of hardest working royal and has already carried out hundreds of engagements this year.
