The Royal Great Grandparents' Club

There's another royal baby on the horizon. And this one will turn a king and queen into great grandparents.

Parents to be, Amadeo of Belgium and Lili, will make a king and queen great grandparents soon

Prince Amadeo of Belgium and his wife, Lili, have confirmed that they are expecting their first child in May this year. And the arrival of their baby will make King Albert II, who abdicated in July 2013, and Queen Paola great grandparents.

The royal great grandparents' club is fairly small right now. The Queen has five great grandchildren - her eldest, Savannah Phillips, is now five while the youngest, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, will turn one in the same month that Amadeo and Lili welcome their baby.

The Queen with two of her great grandchildren, Prince George and Princess Charlotte

Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg, who abdicated in 2000, is a great grandfather eight times over - the eldest of that generation is Prince Gabriel of Nassau born in 2006.

Amadeo, eldest of Albert and Paola's 12 grandchildren, married Lili Rosboch in Rome in July 2014. Their baby will be seventh in line to the throne of Belgium.
